Which social media tools are physician practices in love with?

As physician practices become more comfortable in the social media sphere, their go-to preference for social media tools to attract patients is changing, according to a Digital Doctor survey initiated by ZocDoc.
Facebook topped the list with half of the 360 respondents saying they had a Facebook page to attract clients. Another 34 percent are using Google+ For the uninitiated, it’s like a picture and video heavy version of Facebook. LinkedIn comes in third with 28 percent of doctors saying they had a presence on it. That’s probably a place where patients would go to check on their physicians experience level.

Online PHR helps parents stay on schedule with well-baby visits

Parents who logged onto their child's integrated personal health record at least once were more likely to adhere to the recommended schedule for six well-baby visits by 15 months of age, according to a Kaiser Permanente study.
The research, published in the Journal of Pediatrics, involved a review of data for 7,000 children under 2 who were enrolled in Kaiser Permanente health plans in the Hawaii and Northwest. In the Northwest, parents who used the online tool at least once were 2.5 times more likely to keep the six appointments; in Hawaii, they were twice as likely.

Physician Practices Cast a Wary Eye at Insurance Exchanges

A large survey from the Medical Group Management Association finds many physician practices are decidedly cool toward health insurance exchanges now live under the Affordable Care Act.
“At least initially, physician practices are taking a cautious approach with ACA exchanges,” says Susan Turney, M.D., president and CEO of the association. “Because it’s unclear how many patients will sign up for exchanges in their area, or if practices will even contract to provide care under new exchange insurance products, at this time they can only speculate about their future business needs in relation to the ACA.”

Exchange glitches force insurers to fix errors by hand

The technical glitches plaguing federal-run health insurance exchanges have caused insurers to receive faulty or incomplete information. To rectify some of the problems, insurers have taken to fix errors by hand.
In some cases, insurers have received electronic files they can't open or are unusable because they're missing so much information on new enrollees. The flawed or partial data means some consumers might not actually be covered even if they sign up for a health plan, reported Bloomberg.
