Dec,17,2013
by+Jim Belosic

In the midst of last year’s holiday shopping madness, IBM’s Jay Henderson wrote a super detailed post on his company’s Smarter Planet blog about how social media affects holiday shopping. He concluded that social media isn’t just “another channel to have a personalized dialog with a consumer.”
The key to using social media for holiday marketing, he wrote, is motivating consumers to share their purchases, their experiences and their likes with their friends. Dec,18,2013
by:+MATT MCFARLAND

Social media has conquered the world, racking up over a billion users and even helping to unseat governments. The one thing it can’t topple: human vanity. Why You Should Optimize For Customers And Not Search Engines
Dec,19,2013
by:+Lee Odden

Judging by the daily new business inquiries we get every day, there’s a groundswell of companies that have become frustrated at the lack of cause and effect data from their SEO programs.
Sure, there are workarounds for things like “not provided” keywords, but the lack of information and uncertainty about what Google will take away next is causing many marketers to diversify into other owned, earned and organic areas: social media, content marketing, online public relations, and certainly into online advertising.

Calling all regulators! mHealth is exploding
Dec,12,2013
by:+Diana Manos

The question is how to support and encourage changes in healthcare even as it is being molded by a digital tidal wave. Policy surely can’t keep up, though the federal government and its host of volunteer advisory boards is losing sleep in a valiant effort to do so. Lawmakers and regulators are struggling, at best. And now there’s the argument over who can manage mHealth best, Congress or the FDA.

Dec,13,2013
by+Staff

While many long-term care providers in the U.S. have adopted electronic health records and provided patients with Internet access, few facilities are participating in health information exchange with outside providers, according to a recent survey, Government Health IT reports.

No longer a novelty, medical apps are increasingly valuable to clinicians and patients
Dec,14,2013
by:+Joseph Conn

2013 was a big year for the adoption of mobile medical applications by clinicians and consumers. It also saw the beginning of convergence between devices and apps used by clinicians and those used by consumers.
Still, industry experts say the widespread use of mobile apps and devices that are fully integrated into a comprehensive healthcare and wellness information system remains a work in progress. Authoritative curation of mobile apps is needed to ease physician uncertainty about adopting apps more widely for clinical use, some experts say. And much more progress is needed in developing and disseminating apps that enable healthcare providers to help patients manage their medical conditions.

Dec,12,2013
by:+ Stephanie Baum

A healthcare startup that is using mobile phones and iPads to provide video access to physicians has raised $3 million in seed funding, according to a company statement. Doctor on Demand is one of a group of telehealth companies trying to help address non-emergency questions about illnesses and symptoms to reduce the need for in-patient visits and the flow of people going to emergency rooms.
It also helps address the gap between the number of physicians and nurses and the number of people entering the healthcare system as a result of Obamacare. Earlier this year an IMS Research report estimated that telehealth would grow to reach 1.8 million patients by 2017.
