The family physician is the most highly recruited doctor as the Affordable Care Act and trends in medical economics move more health care service to less expensive outpatient settings, according to a national doctor recruitment firm.
Primary care professions, led by family physicians and the up and coming professions of nurse practitioners and physician assistants, are in high demand, according to physician staffing firm Merritt Hawkins HWKN -0.56%, a subsidiary of AMN Healthcare (AHS).

Survey: Big employers may shift workers to private exchanges

Insurers might see even more consumers enrolling in plans sold through health insurance exchanges based on new survey findings that some large employers may switch their workers to the online marketplaces.
The country's largest employers could see the cost of offering healthcare coverage rise by 7 percent next year, according to a new survey from the National Business Group on Health. To offset those costs, some companies are considering moving their employees to exchanges while offering only consumer-directed health plans (CDHP).

The 17 states running their own health insurance exchanges are taking widely different approaches to advertising the new online marketplaces to the public.
Some are using funny ads, some serious and some don't even mention insurance. They have polled state residents to see what approach will work best and have designed the ads accordingly. The ads try to remedy the widespread ignorance about the exchange plans and federal subsidies to buy coverage, while also trying to convince people, particularly younger, healthier people, that they need insurance. Whenever possible, they're using real people's stories to show why exchange coverage could be a godsend.
