This morning I’m sure you woke up and all but yelled out “Thank Goodness It’s Friday!”. Your week was jam packed wasn’t it? Making sure the kids get to school on time, meeting that work deadline and figuring out a grocery list…this time before actually getting to the grocery store. Telemedicine offers a way for doctors to treat more patients as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act brings in more people seeking care. And the quality of care is not compromised, panelists told a recent forum hosted by the Robert Graham Center for Policy Studies in Family Medicine and Primary Care in Washington, D.C.
"Telemedicine is not different medicine," said Jason Mitchell, M.D., director of the American Academy of Family Physicians' Center for Health IT. "It's a different interaction."

Are You Developing Your Product Or Your Customers?
Feb,06,2014
by+Mike Moran

I frequently see new products. Companies ask me about their new product all the time. They are all very happy about what it does. They are enthralled with their vision for where it is going. They are a bit concerned about how much money it is costing to build the product. They are a little worried about how long it will take before they start making money. Sometimes, in dark moments, they will admit to feeling some pressure over all the stress. There’s a reason that they feel that way.

How Should Business Adapt to the Facebook Paper App?
Feb,04,2014
by:+ JOHN JANTSCH

By now you’ve probably at least read about Facebook’s newest app called Paper. If you own an iPhone and live in the US it’s also possible that you’ve downloaded and experienced the new app. (Really silly name and too bad because there’s a totally awesome iPad app already called Paper)
The first thing you must understand is that this is not the new Facebook app, it’s a new way to experience Facebook. The Facebook app remains as do Facebook Messenger and Pages apps. Paper is a decidedly visual way to view your news stream as well as aggregate content from other categorized content areas such as tech and sports.

RAND study cites telemedicine benefits: lowers costs, expands access
Feb,03,2014
by+Steven Ross Johnson

The first assessment of a wide-scale deployment of telemedicine suggests the technology shows promise as a means of addressing an expected shortage of physicians in some areas as millions of Americans gain health coverage.
The study, conducted by the RAND Corp. and published Monday in the journal Health Affairs, found that using telecommunication services to provide clinical care from a distance were used mostly by younger, more affluent patients who were more tech savvy. Researchers found no increase in clinical misdiagnosis or errors in treatment among those using the service.

The software, called ePASS, was developed by Inovalon, a Bowie-based health IT firm with about 3,000 employees worldwide.
