“Get More Likes”: Facebook Promoted Page Ads Now Available Globally

First introduced in the U.S. last December, Facebook has now made Promoted Page ads available globally.The ads are designed with small businesses in mind to help them garner more Likes for their pages without needing large budgets or sophisticated targeting. Page administrators can launch a Promoted Page ad directly from the Admin Panel
The ads will show in users’ news feeds as well as in the right column on desktops. Facebook will actually create three versions of a Page ad automatically, including a Sponsored Story ad. Admins can pause or edit the ads from within Ads Manager.

Health-Care Owners Shun Nursing Homes

Some of the nation's largest health-care landlords are pulling back from nursing homes on concerns they will be less profitable in an era of steep Medicare and Medicaid cuts.
Health Care REIT Inc., HCN +0.27% which leases to about 250 nursing homes nationwide, and Senior Housing Properties Trust, SNH +0.23% which is the landlord to nearly 50 nursing homes, have indicated they are greatly reducing their exposure or that they might exit the sector.
Ventas Inc., VTR +0.67% one of the largest health-care landlords in the U.S., said it is comfortable with the approximately 300 nursing homes it already houses but won't make major new acquisitions in the sector until there is more clarity on Medicare rates. Instead, Ventas plans to expand into assisted-living properties that aren't dependent on government subsidies.

As part of its effort to be more transparent and loop patients into its processes and policies, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration this week launched a new website called FDA Patient Network.
It’s meant to be an educational resource for patients, patient advocates and consumers to learn about drug and device approval, off-label use of products and clinical trials. It’s also intended to be a place to ask questions of FDA officials, comment on decision-making and become involved in the decision-making process, the FDA says.

Mobile will take a greater percentage of total ecommerce retail sales Mobile shopping—particularly on tablet devices—is having an outsize impact on the ecommerce world, contributing to an increasing share of US retail ecommerce sales and exerting more influence on overall retail sales, according to new estimates from eMarketer.
This year, 15% of online retail sales will take place via mobile devices, according to eMarketer, up from 11% in 2012. By 2017, the percentage will rise to 25%.
