Mobile apps largely used by docs for work

Mobile apps are being used by 24 percent of doctors, making them the top digital/social media channel used for work purposes, according to a new survey of more than 300 practicing physicians by Wolters Kluwer Health.
Eight in 10 physicians use smartphones in their daily practice and six in 10 use tablets. More than half (55 percent) use both smartphones and tablets in their daily practice. The top use of smartphones is for accessing drug information while tablets are used most to access medical research.

With enrollment for health insurance exchanges growing near, young Americans are about to get an earful.
The Obama administration expects that some 2.7 million healthy adults under 35 will need to enroll in insurance exchanges to make the premium prices work for everyone. To make that happen, it’s kicked off a reportedly $700 million educational campaign to recruit young people to the exchanges.

A recent RAND Corp. study showed that while they may generate savings in the long run, there was little evidence to suggest most wellness programs have an immediate impact.Some employers are beginning to ask questions about their value. Intel recently moved to a narrow network health insurance plan after admitting its wellness program had failed to constrain costs.
